The Challenges of Starting a New Business
Hey everybody, I know it's been awhile since our last post, but honestly, I didn't have anything good to share and Mom always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". So, we waited and prayed.
Things have finally started to fall into place! I was able to contact the manufacturer of our trailer directly and explain the situation. For those of you who don't know. We thought we were getting a trailer built in Texas. What we got was a trailer built in Mexico with a ton of issues. Short recap: trailer brake wired incorrectly, trailer brakes only on 2 wheels instead of all 4, entire trailer wired incorrectly which caused our generators and shore power to keep failing, tires not rated for commercial use and only rated for 60 lbs instead of 80-100, rivets and welds not holding, no weather stripping, axles not rated for a trailer of our size, etc, etc.
With all of that going on, we've only been able to attend 4 events. As soon as we took it out on the road, the tires blew and opened a huge can of worms trying to find the right size tires and get them to fit the wheel wells. So it sat in our driveway for almost 3 weeks while the bills continued to roll in.
However, once we bypassed the dealer and reached out to the builder, things started to fall into place. We've gotten our first round of reimbursements for the repairs we've already made and an agreement to cover the remaining repairs required to make it legal and roadworthy. Rod was able to put on spacers so we can at least get around town and we're working to get new axles actually rated for a food trailer our size. God is GOOD!
We're hoping to be out in town next week. I'll post again when we know where and when. Thanks for hanging in there with us! Hope to see you around town!
